Sims 2: Double Deluxe Edition – Why don’t my downloads work?
My roommate and I installed the Sims 2: Double Deluxe edition yesterday. Today we spent most of our time downloading meshes and things for the game. Although we have the downloads enabled and all our meshes are unzipped and in the downloads folder, they aren’t showing up when we go to create our Sims (they are mostly hair meshes). Is there something else we are forgetting to do?
Custom Content 101:
You need two things for a new object to show up in the game, a mesh and a texture. Make sure that you have at least one texture for each mesh you have installed.
Afterwards, you may want to make sure that custom content is enabled in the game options. If you don’t get a pop up of this option when you start, look for it under game options.
Make sure that all the files you have extracted are in the “My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads” folder. I suspect that if all you have is Double Deluxe, you may not be able to use sub-folders underneath the Downloads directory.
And the really goofy thing: Do you know where to look for the items in your game? A lot of sites have “unbinned” genetic objects. So you look for that new brown hair and dont find it with the other brown hairs, but it’s lumped under the custom hair bin ( the asterisk * ).
